Parents sessions are an important part of family therapy. They are a good place for the therapist and parent to work out strategies for addressing internal family issues, as well as a free space for parents to voice their concerns and frustrations without the child present. However, it is the therapist’s job to make sure a parent’s venting doesn’t spiral into a blaming game. In the video above, Dafna talks about how the 3 P’s mentioned during last week’s How To Tuesday can be used in parent sessions to help regulate and redirect parents who may be feeling overwhelmed.
